Tanzania Postal Bank gets major digital push

​​Increasing efficiency one of WSBI mem​ber TPB goals

​​​BRUSSELS, 2 March 2015 -- Increasing efficiency in banking services delivery and reducing time spent by customers at the bank’s branches are two of the objectives that Tanzania Postal Bank (TPB) has proposed after adopting the Multi-Protocol Label Switching-Virtual Private Network (MPLS-VPN) over fiber connectivity. The aim of this objective is to provide a better service to underserved digitally population.

This technology will be implemented jointly by TPB and Tanzania Communication Company Limited (TTCL) providing flexibility to transport and routing several types of network traffic. As TBP Chief Operations Officer Mr Kolimba Tawa declared: “this is a project of importance as more unbankable population will be reached thus supporting government efforts to implement financial inclusion”.

Some of the branches connected in the TCLL network include TPB headquarters such as Dar es Salaam, Samora, Kijitonyama, Sam Nujoma and Ubungo. Others 28 TBP are expected to be in service within the second phase of this project in the near future.
