Two-day event in Côte d'Ivoire dedicated to look at ways to strengthen financial inclusion in region
BRUSSELS, 24 August 2017 – WSBI invites its members from French speaking countries in Africa to a regional meeting on 28-29 August in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. Event participants will explore issues around the topic “Financial inclusion and digital finance".
West Africa is home to more than 175 million unique mobile subscribers and is one of the world's fastest-growing mobile regions. The banking sector should play a leading role in this evolution, however, this is not the case yet. Due to various external or internal issues many banks across West Africa are passing through several crises.
The two-day event is dedicated to discussing such issues and to look into ways to strengthen financial inclusion in the region. Presentations, interactive sessions and debates will invite participants to get insights about the technological advancement and the use of the phone and other digital tools in the banking sector. It will also be a great opportunity to exchange knowledge and best practices as well as to review latest trends and news in the banking sector of West Africa.
