Chilean President Bachelet appoints Guillermo Larrain to lead BancoEstado

BRUSSELS, 17 July 2015 – Dr. Guillermo Larrain was recently appointed to be new chairman of the board and executive committee of BancoEstado.  

Guillermo Larrain is a member of the advisory board of the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group) and the advisory council of the Securities and Commodities Authority of the United Arab Emirates (ESCA).

In April 2014, Guillermo Larraín was appointed vice president of BancoEstado by Chilean President Michelle Bachelet. On the occasion of the appointment of Rodrigo Valdes, the former president, as finance minister, he was appointed president of the bank.

Guillermo Larrain said: "I appreciate the confidence the President of the Republic has placed in me to lead this important institution and, in this way, continue to work towards a country with more opportunities for all its citizens".

He holds a doctorate in economics from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris and is an economist at the Catholic University of Chile.
