ICBA calls on members to urge members of Congress to cosponsor legislation creating new capital options for community banks.

WASHINGTON, 18 June 2015 – ICBA is urging community bankers to urge their members of Congress to cosponsor legislation that would create new capital options for community banks. Community bankers can use ICBA’s Be Heard grassroots website to write their lawmakers in support of the Community Bank Access to Capital Act of 2015 (H.R. 1523), introduced by Rep. Scott Garrett (R-N.J.).

H.R. 1523 would exempt community banks from Basel III capital rules and improve access to the Small Bank Holding Company Policy Statement, among other provisions from ICBA’s Plan for Prosperity regulatory relief platform.
