Senate banks chair: Reverse community bank regulation trend

U.S. WSBI member ICBA says committee head sees time ripe to address swelling community banks regulatory costs

                       

​WASHINGTON, D.C., 16 Febrruary 2015 – The chairman of the Senate Banking Committee said it is time to reverse the trend of growing regulatory and compliance costs for community banks. 

At a committee hearing on community bank regulation, Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) said community bank resources that could be used for local economic growth are being spent on regulatory compliance.
