BERLIN, 9 March 2017 -- Banking experts and policymakers from Germany and around the world explored the role local banks play in a globalised world at a special event around the G20 German Presidency.
Hosted by the World Savings and Retail Banking Institute (WSBI), together with the German Savings Banks Association (DSGV), the National Association of German Cooperative Banks (BVR), and the European Association of Cooperative Banks (EACB) some 200 people attended the event held at the Sparkassenhaus building in Berlin under the heading "G20 and Locally Focused Banks".
German finance minister speaks
As a keynote speaker, the Honourable Dr Wolfgang Schäuble, Minister of Finance of the Federal Republic of Germany, talked about the economic and political challenges facing the G20 in advance of the group's upcoming meeting.
WSBI members take part
WSBI members from Asia, Africa, and the Americas joined their fellow members from Europe at the event.
