Bangladesh Central Bank Governor visits WSBI

​​BRUSSELS, 5 February 2015 ​ Dr. Atiur Rahman, Governor of the Central Bank of Bangladesh, has paid a visit to WSBI. On his way to London to collect the "Central Banker of the Year, Asia-Pacific" award by The Banker, Dr. Rahman came to the WSBI offices in Brussels to sign a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of training and consultancy services between WSBI and the Bangladesh Bank Training Academy and the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management. 

In his presentation "The Global Financial Crisis – ​a Bangladesh Perspective", Dr. Rahman stressed the importance of financial inclusion for financial stability and highlighted several impressive achievements in opening bank accounts for the unbanked and in the take-up of mobile banking in the country. He stressed that the efforts in the field of inclusion, support of women entrepreneurs and rural entities have not been detrimental to the overall macroeconomic stability.​
