Participants from five countries attend
BRUSSELS, 5 February 2016 – The African Postal Financial Services Initiative – Management Training seminar took place last week in Tanzania. Seventeen participants in total, were all representatives of postal banks from Benin, Ghana, Madagascar, Senegal and Tanzania.
Held from 26-29 January in Arusha, the seminar aimed to facilitate the use of remittance services in rural areas of Africa. Experts on hand were scheduled to share their know-how on ways to bring in unbanked people with the objective to contribute to poverty reduction and improve financial inclusion.
The initiative was launched jointly by the the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and European Commission in collaboration with the World Bank, Universal Postal Union (UPU), United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) and WSBI-ESBG – the World Savings and Retail Banking Institute / European Savings and Retail Banking Group.
