​Policy Adviser – Reporting, Accounting, Auditing, and Taxation (M/F/D)

 

Job description:

  • Monitoring, analysing and informing members regarding European and international financial, corporate, prudential, supervisory, and statistical reporting developments as well as developments in the areas of auditing and accounting. Relevant topics include, for example, IFRS 9, IFRS 17 and the EU authorities' work to work towards a more integrated reporting framework;

  • Additionally, non-financial reporting, both at European and international level, is a core part of the portfolio;

  • Moreover, the Adviser will also be in charge of taxation dossiers, such as digital tax, VAT, and FTT;

  • Additional/Other policy areas may be assigned as needed;

  • Being in charge of the 'Accounts and Audit Committee' of WSBI-ESBG : preparation of meetings, drafting of background documents, contributing to the meeting by reporting on latest developments for each topic at EU and international level, drafting a summary of the meeting and ensuring that agreed action points are executed;

  • Preparing common positions gathering the views of WSBI-ESBG members and representing the interests of members in the abovementioned areas;

  • Liaising with EU and international authorities (e.g. European Commission, European Parliament, European Banking Authority, European Central Bank, International Accounting Standards Board, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development); a particularly close exchange is needed with the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG).

 

Profile:

  • Completed university degree, ideally with a specialisation in accounting/auditing/or similar;

  • Some years of experience in financial reporting/accounting/auditing/ or similar;

  • Ideally, experience in advocacy work;

  • Good political, strategic and technical understanding of the abovementioned topics;

  • Profound understanding of the EU law-making environment and decision-making process, in particular regarding the implementation of international reporting standards in the EU;

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a multi-cultural environment;

  • Ability to comply with tight deadlines and to deal with several files in parallel;

  • Excellent command in English, other EU languages are an asset.
