​​The Joint Office of the European Savings and Retail Banking Group (ESBG) and the World Savings and Retail Banking Institute (WSBI) wishes to recruit for their office in Brussels a (m/f) 

Capital Markets Advisor 

The job description is as follows:

 

  • The Adviser will monitor the developments, at EU and internatioanl level, in the fields of capital markets, investment products, consumer protection, indices, clearing and other markets-related topics;
  • Key dossiers of which the Adviser will be in charge include: MiFID, MiFIR, PRIIPs, Benchmarks, Prospectus, Capital Markets Union, EMIR, UCITS and MAR;
  • In addition, the Adviser will be involved in the activities of FinDatEx, in particular regarding FinDatEx's work on PRIIPs;
  • The Adviser will prepare common positions gathering the views of all ESBG/WSBI members;
  • The Adviser will represent the interests of ESBG/WSBI members in the abovementioned areas;
  • Another responsibility will be to liaise with authorities and stakeholders, both at EU and global level: e.g. European Commission, European Parliament, Council Presidency, ESMA and IOSCO;
  • It is possible that the Adviser will additionally be working on a few other files (for instance in areas of sustainable finance and financial technology).


Profile:

 

  • Completed university degree in law, finance, economy, political science or similar;
  • Some experience in advocacy work;
  • Ideally, 2-3 years experience in banking/financial and investment services;
  • Good political, strategic and technical understanding of the abovementioned topics;
  • Profound understanding of the EU law-making environment and decision-making process;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a multi-cultural environment;
  • Perfect command in English, other EU languages are an asset.​
